POLICE are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information following a report of an alleged assault in Penzance.

Officers were called by the ambulance service to a report of an assault in Market Place on Sunday, June 16 at around 3.40am.

A local man in his 20s was taken to hospital after sustaining serious head injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.

An 18-year-old man from Penzance has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and on suspicion of possessing a controlled Class A drug. He has been released on police bail, to return on Monday, September 16, pending further enquiries.
