A STUNNING cottage that featured on ‘Poldark’ and is set on a dramatic cliffside with ocean views is up for auction, writes SWNS reporter Lauren Beavis.

The beautiful one-bedroom property looks over one of Cornwall's best beaches and has the potential to be transformed into a ‘Grand-Designs style project’.

Porthscylla, the detached property in Porthcurno has been featured in the TV series Poldark. It will appear in auction for the guide price of £395,000.

Katie, senior auction appraiser at Clive Emson Auctioneers, said: “Something like this offered to the auction market in such a truly beautiful un-spoilt location really is an absolute rarity and anyone who visits Porthcurno even on a rainy day would be crazy not to fall in love with it”.

The property, nestled into cliffs near the famous open-air Minack Theatre, has been in the same family and ‘thoroughly enjoyed for a century’.

It sits on about 0.78 hectares (1.94 acres) of predominantly cliffside land, with a level area located towards the top offering potential for formalisation.

The quaint cottage contains an entrance/utility area, a W.C., a kitchen, shower room with a double basin, a double bedroom and a living/dining room.

According to Clive Emson Auctioneers, the property now requires a course of updating throughout, whilst benefiting from permission in principle for demolition and replacement giving potential for “Grand Design-style opportunities to be explored” - subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.

Cornwall Council have granted Permission in Principle for the demolition and replacement of the chalet-style bungalow.

Porthcylla is being auctioned together with Marshall’s Estate Agents of Penzance.

Bidding for the current auction goes live on Monday, June 10 and ends on Wednesday, June 12.
