RESIDENTS are being given the opportunity to have their say on plans to provide 120 new homes in St Newlyn East.

Developer Gilbert & Goode is staging a public consultation on its scheme, which involves building the homes on land east of Station Road.

The site, which will be known as ‘Newlina Meadows’, has been identified in the newly made St Newlyn East and Mitchell Neighbourhood Plan for residential development.

It was identified by the local community as a preferred residential development site due to its sustainable location directly to the south of existing housing and close to the village centre.

Gilbert & Goode plans to deliver a link road that it says is ‘much needed’ and would substantially reduce the traffic that currently uses the village. The proposed scheme will also include 30 per cent affordable housing.

Local residents will have an opportunity to see details of the proposals, speak to members of the project team and provide feedback at a drop-in event at Wesley Hall, The Cross on Thursday, September 26 from 3pm to 8pm.

Karen Croker, the development manager at Gilbert & Goode, said: “Our ethos is to work closely with the community throughout the design process in order to provide the best possible new homes for the village and a great place to live.

“We are really looking forward to showcasing our plans and meeting with local residents to answer any questions they may have and take their feedback on board.”
