PLANS to create a new garden outside the council offices in Newquay are coming to fruition.
The Sun and Sea themed garden in the grounds of the Municipal Building in Marcus Hill will feature blue and yellow flowers.
The town council’s environment team are due to start work cutting out the grass to make way for the garden in the autumn and Newquay in Bloom will plant the flowers, which are due to include Bees Lemon, Jerusalem Sage and Leopard’s Bane.
Councillor Sarah Thomson said: “Newquay in Bloom asked me to do a planting design plan for the garden at the council offices.
“It’s cutting a curved border around and we will still have access from the steps to the flagpole and leaving the grass there.
“In the autumn time the environmental team would be happy to cut the turf out. I have put in yellow flowering plants hopefully providing a year-round bit of colour, pollinator based and then the other area around that is blue flowering plants.
“I went to the Burncoose Nurseries website and did a plant list based on that for the costings. It comes in at just over £1,000 and hiring a rotavator and getting some paving slabs. Newquay in Bloom is happy with the planting.”
