VOTERS in one of the largest parishes in Cornwall have the chance to indicate whether they are for or against the proposed new neighbourhood plan for their area.
Voting in the St Stephen-in-Brannel Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan Referendum will take place between 7am and 10pm on Thursday, October 3.
All registered voters in the parish are being urged to make their vote count
A spokesperson for the team behind the plan said: “The area’s neighbourhood development plan document covers such important aspects as future housing development, building design, business and employment for the area, community facilities, recreation and open spaces, and roads, access and transport needs.
“In addition, the plan covers ways to not only protect the parish’s natural environment and landscape, but also its heritage and the characters of its eight individual villages.
“The plan itself has been in the making for almost seven years and it will mean that Cornwall Council will have to consider it when they decide planning applications if the majority of the community vote yes to the question: Do you want Cornwall Council to use the neighbourhood plan for St Stephen-in-Brannel Parish to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”
Voting in the referendum will take place at the following polling stations: Lanjeth and High Street Memorial Hall, Coombe Road, Lanjeth; Foxhole Learning Academy, Goverseth Road, Foxhole; Coombe Community Hall, Coombe; The Brannel Room, Fore Street, St Stephen; Nanpean Methodist Chapel, Currian Road, Nanpean; Treviscoe Community Centre, Central Treviscoe; and the Methodist Sunday School, Crown Road, Whitemoor.
