Mason Brewing Co is seeking retrospective permission for a taproom at its base on Threemilestone Industrial Estate in Truro.

Since launching in May 2024, the owners have opened the bar to the public as an ancillary revenue stream from Thursday to Saturday every week. This has proven so popular, they would like to make it a more focal point of the business.

Their planning statement says there will be no detrimental impacts to neighbouring businesses or the local community as a result of this application and use change. “In the last six months there have been no issues with disorderly customers, traffic impacts or antisocial behaviour either on or off the site.

“We are an active member of Truro Pubwatch, which enables us to maintain an active awareness of issues that may have arisen at other local venues and prevent disorderly conduct at or around our premises.

“We have positively impacted the local community by hosting educational talks, acoustic events and beer tastings. All our events are by their very nature promoting the responsible consumption of alcohol due to the premium products we offer. We offer no discounted alcohol schemes and do not sell short spirit measures.”

Every week more than 100 applications are validated by Cornwall Council and we have selected some of the more interesting proposals. All planning applications submitted to the council have to be validated and are available for inspection by the public. Anyone is also allowed to submit comments about the applications – whether in support or objection.
