Popular areas in Newquay have been enhanced with new benches and picnic tables.
Newquay Town Council has installed new benches at North Quay Hill outside the Red Lion as well as benches and picnic tables at Alexandra Gardens in Porth.
The project was made possible through the Section 106 Government grant, a community infrastructure levy, awarded to the town council for the specific purpose of enhancing public spaces in the town.
The town council’s environment service worked closely with Cornwall Council on the scheme as the areas fall under the jurisdiction of the unitary authority after the two prominent locations were identified as needing revitalising.
The team also tidied up the immediate areas and has plans in place to repaint the North Quay Hill fence in front of the new benches.
The old benches from North Quay Hill will be restored and rehomed elsewhere in town as part of its sustainability commitment.
Deputy Mayor Drew Creek said: "We are so fortunate to live in this town.
"These improvements aim to provide residents and visitors with comfortable and inviting spaces to enjoy the beauty of Newquay.
"We believe that by investing in our public areas, we contribute to the health and well-being of our community."
A spokesperson for Newquay Town Council added: “We look forward to the continued enhancement of public spaces and invites the community to enjoy the upgraded amenities at North Quay Hill and Alexandra Gardens.”
