A petition calling for the refurbishment of a local playpark in Heamoor has been signed by over 340 people since launching on Saturday, November 2.
The playpark is located just off Heabrook Parc road in Heamoor, near Penzance. Stacey Haines, a local resident who started the petition, said that the playpark was “outdated in contrast to other local parks that have seen significant improvements.”
She added: “We call for the following upgrades to Heabrook Parc Heamoor: refurbishment of old play equipment, instalment of new play equipment, a new toddler play area to replace the one that was removed and never replaced, new seating areas, new footpath surfacing, and landscaping that includes planting.”
“We urge those in charge to invest in the wellbeing of our children and future generations by refurbishing Heabrook Parc Heamoor. Let's ensure our children can enjoy the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of a vibrant community park.”
Andrew George, the Liberal Democrat MP for the St Ives constituency, said: “I have raised the condition of the play park at Heabrook Parc, Roscadgehill with Cornwall Council and asked for Penzance Town Council to be involved with it's running.
“At present, Cornwall Council say there's no additional money for the play park. I have called for council officers to meet with him, and Penzance Mayor Stephen Reynolds to look at the future of the play park as a matter of urgency.
