MORE changes could soon be happening in St Austell town centre. Planning permission has been granted by Cornwall Council for the sub-division of the retail unit at 20 Fore Street, formerly Shoezone, to form two smaller shops.

Under the plans, the shopfront windows and doors will be replaced. The town council raised no objection to the plans.

Elsewhere in the town, permission has been granted for an extension at the North Hill Park Nursing Home. The scheme includes the conversion of owner’s accommodation to create seven additional bedrooms, a rehabilitation therapy room, a kitchen, an additional communal sitting room, two areas of external amenity space for use as gardens, and the formation of an elevated corridor to connect to the existing first floor main corridor, staircase and lift.

Under the plans, a two-storey extension to the main building would be used for a new ground floor administration office and a replacement bedroom at first floor level. The town council supported the plans.

Cornwall Council has also approved plans to build two semi-detached homes at 4 Sandy Hill, St Austell. The town council had objected to these plans.

A plan for five homes with garages and a new access road on land south west of Avonwynn View, St Austell, has been approved. The town council had raised no objection to this plan.

Among planning applications still to be decided is a proposal for a freestanding automated telling machine (ATM) at the White River Place shopping centre and a scheme for single-storey side and front extensions at 46 Daniels Lane, St Austell.
