TALENTED youngsters literally ‘raised the roof’ after staging a show for Newquay Women’s Institute.
Bounce Dance Academy and Cornwall Theatre School put on a showcase at the WI Hall in Crantock Street, which raised £608 towards the repair of the flat roof and the upkeep of the building.
Liz Howarth, the Newquay WI president, said: “Over the years the WI has worked hard to create and grow the building into a community space for clubs, groups and for the ladies of Newquay WI.
“The showcase created and staged by Bounce Dance Academy and Cornwall Drama was an amazing afternoon. The hall was packed.
“There was lots of laughter and at times tears. Cakes that were made by our WI ladies went down a storm.
“A big thank you to the local business for the help in donating some amazing prizes.
“A massive thanks go to Rachel and Jan from Bounce Dance Academy and Stephine and Gemma at Cornwall Drama as well as all the children and dancers.
“Lastly thank you for the hard work and commitment from our WI ladies.”
Newquay WI meet on the second Tuesday of every month between 1.45pm and 4pm, apart from in August.
