PEOPLE in the St Austell area are being encouraged to get on their bikes – to help themselves and the environment.
Two free BEAT (Better Engagement in Active Travelling) days are being held at St Austell Leisure Centre to get the message across.
The days will run on Monday, June 3, and Monday, June 17, from 10am to 3.30pm, at the centre which is operated under the Better brand by GLL.
“Cycling is a great way of keeping fit, saving money and helping the climate,” said GLL community sport manager Karen Edmond.
“Experts will be available on both days to give free practical advice on how participants can enjoy being active in Cornwall – whether or not they have a bike of their own.
“Our aim is to raise awareness of how much fun cycling can be and why it’s a wonderful and healthy way of experiencing our beautiful county.”
The events are being funded by Active Travel England and Cornwall Council, and are being delivered by GLL in partnership with the Cornwall Bicycle Project, TRIcycle, Cornwall Life Recycle and St Austell Social Prescribing Team.
Both events will include a puncture repair workshop, cycling opportunities and a session on how to access Beryl Bikes.
