A COUNCILLOR in the Pentewan Valley is urging all residents to comment on a plan which will help to shape the future of the area near St Austell.

Cllr Steve Street said: “I am a member of Pentewan Valley Parish Council. We are working hard to produce a neighbourhood development plan for our community.

“This would give local residents and businesses a say in the future of the parish.

“We are currently in the second stage of consulting with our residents to ensure that we really do understand their views.

“We are carrying out a second survey to gather some more detailed information. This will help ensure that the plan really does reflect the needs and aspirations of the people that live and work in the parish.

“If you live, work or have a business in the Pentewan Valley parish, your views are very important to us.

“Please participate and tell us what you think so that we can produce a plan for you. The more responses we receive, the more our plan will reflect the views and wishes of our community.

“Encourage friends and family to complete the survey. Every individual has the right to have their views heard and the more people that participate, the more the plan will represent the views of the parish.

“You can read more about the plan on the Pentewan Valley parish website, www.pentewanvalleypc.co.uk.”

The public survey on the neighbourhood development plan is running until November 30.

People can complete the survey either online at app.gocollaborate.co.uk/ cornwall/pentewan-valley-ndp or with a paper copy available by calling 01726 823978 or emailing [email protected]

Cllr Street said: “The neighbourhood development plan is a real opportunity to get the views of the residents recognised by the planning system. It is our chance to help shape the future of the valley and the local environment we value.

“Our group of councillors, local residents and a highly-experienced planning consultant have been working on the Pentewan Valley Neighbourhood Development Plan since 2021. We have endeavoured to contact everyone in the parish to seek their advice on various aspects of the parish including development, the character of the Pentewan Valley, tourism, second homes, the design of future developments, heritage and areas of local landscape importance.

“Based on our findings and a great deal of analysis by our consultant, we are working on the production of the plan. If approved by Cornwall Council, this plan must be considered by the planning authorities when planning applications in the parish are considered.

“We have learned an incredible amount about our parish and the hopes and aspirations of those that live here but there is still work to be done.”
