MEMBERS of the Soroptimist International St Austell and District Club welcomed a notable guest.

Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) Federation President Ruth Healey attended a meeting of the club at the Porthpean Golf Club.

The president, who was presented with Cornish gifts and joined members for a Cornish cream tea, gave a talk about the federation.

The president was wished every success on behalf of the club for her upcoming conference at Edinburgh in Scotland which will be attended by nine St Austell members.

During the meeting, members were also given an update on STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) bursaries.
