A free family funday is being staged in Newquay to give people the opportunity to meet the new mayor.

Mayor Cllr Drew Creek is staging a meet the mayor community afternoon at Newquay Orchard, which will include live music, bushcraft skills, paint archery, garden games and refreshments on Sunday, June 9 between 1pm and 3pm.

Cllr Creek said: “As incoming mayor of Newquay I wanted to celebrate the brilliant community we have here, rather than hold a formal ceremony as previous mayors have done, I wanted something that was less about the mayor themselves but more about the community that the mayor serves, to that end we are holding this wonderful free community event.

“There will be mayors from across Cornwall in attendance along with other dignitaries, but this is a chance for the community to get together and celebrate Newquay.”
