NEWQUAY’S horticultural excellence has been celebrated.
The Newquay in Bloom team held a special presentation evening at St Micheal’s Church where the town, businesses and private gardens were commended.
The South West in Bloom Gold Award for the town’s entry was presented to mayor Cllr Drew Creek.
Fourteen ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ awards were also presented, which include the Living Library Garden, St Columb Minor Micro-edibles, Fistral Beach Clean and the Old Cornwall Scrub Bashers along with many others.
A special business award was presented to Sue Gray for ‘Your Wellbeing Services’ at St Columb Minor.
Councillor Dickie Souray spoke about the Be Newquay Creative Project taking place.
Certificates and trophies were also presented to the businesses and private entries in Newquay in Bloom’s own garden’s competition.
Lesley Friel, the secretary of Newquay in Bloom, said: “The group would like to say thank you to all those who attended. We hope everyone enjoyed the evening and that it has encouraged them to keep gardening in 2025.
“The group would love to see more entries next year especially from businesses around town.
“Look out for the entry form on our Facebook page next April.”
