A Newquay woman has shown her gratitude to a charity that has been supporting her mother by raising £2,000 for the cause.
Kate Harrison completed the 26.2 mile London Marathon in four hours, 18 minutes, and 33 seconds in aid of the MS Society as her mother Anna suffers from the autoimmune disease.
She also held a fundraiser at The Belmont Club prior to the London Marathon, which was supported by The Clams, friends, family and local businesses who contributed raffle prizes.
A darts competition was additionally organised with a Luke Littler board as a prize.
Kate, who is a third year medical student in Truro, said: “The whole day for the London Marathon was a great experience.
“The race started at Blackheath and the trains were packed with excited runners.
“There was no rain, but it was cold and windy.
“Throughout the race there were loads of bands, DJs and choirs which lifted the spirits.
“The crowd lining the streets were amazing.
“It was tough from mile 18 to the finish.
“I would like to say a big thank you to all the local businesses, The Clams, The Belmont, family, and friends for their generous support.
“Over £2,000 was raised for the MS Society.”
