A new surf brand has been launched in Newquay.

Resident Johnny Roberts has unveiled bodyboarding street wear El Rollo Surf Designs, which is named after an old school bodyboard trick invented in the 80s by legendary Hawaiian trailblazer Pat Caldwell.

There is a wide range of products available through the brand including T-shirts, hoodies, shorts and caps.

El Rollo was officially unveiled at Sunny Days Surf and Street Wear in Fore Street, which was attended by a number of surf enthusiasts.

Johnny said: “It all really began four years ago regarding El Rollo as a concept. At that time I was looking for a new groove in life after my band split up. I’d settled on the name El Rollo as I loved how it sounded. It’s in fact a quite simplistic bodyboarding manoeuvre.

“It’s open and accessible and I liked the idea that my brand would have a similarly welcoming and fun feel.

“The real big news of course was that we have now officially launched El Rollo at Sunny Days Surf Shop.

“There was a great turn out on the day and we owe a great debt to Liz and Josh Midgley at Sunny Days who have helped us with all the particularities of arriving with a new brand onto the shop floor.

“Liz is someone I’m also stoked to be working with as she has a very free approach to things and has a flair and vision that’s infectious and inspiring.

“Our brand is a unisex brand and we have a wide range of products available now in store, so please ‘roll’ by whenever you get chance.”
