NEWQUAY Orchard recently celebrated the achievements of its students with a graduation event at Heart and Soul Café.

The ceremony marked the successes achieved in their courses, Growing Futures, run for young people, and Sustainable Lives, which has a selection of courses aimed at adults.

It featured speeches from Newquay Orchard CEO Charlotte Hill, education manager Sarah Anthony, and representatives from partner organisations such as Cornwall Council. A special mention went out to Cornwall College who help to run our adult education courses.

A highlight of the event was a heartfelt video created by some full-time students to express their gratitude to their tutor, Alex Woodhouse, for his outstanding support. The celebration provided an opportunity to thank the students, their parents and carers, funders, and all who supported these remarkable journeys.

Graduate Sascha Rogalla is now a lead volunteer at Newquay Orchard and works with the Adult Education team to help others pass the course.

He said: “The teachers at Newquay Orchard were so supportive and laid all the information out in a structured way, which really helped. They have a genuine desire to support the learners.

“Through the course, I learned how to build fences, lay paving slabs and how to make my CV stand out. I’m now delighted to be able to mentor others,” he added.

Education at Newquay Orchard offers young people and adults the opportunity to learn in a hands-on way, both inside and outside the classroom.

Charlotte Hill expressed her pride in the students’ accomplishments.

She said: “Growing Futures is what we are all about at Newquay Orchard, and we are bursting with pride at our students’ achievements this year. We were delighted to share in their celebrations at their recent graduation with their families and friends. A big well done to them all!”
