A PROMINENT beach bar, restaurant and night club in Newquay have gone on the market priced at £2.5-million.
The Dead Famous Night Club and the adjacent 12 Beach Road Restaurant in Beach Road are being sold by the Whittaker family.
Ian Whittaker wants to test the market as he spends more time working on staging various festivals throughout Cornwall through the company he co-owns called Quick Panda Productions.
Ian said: “The family is looking for a buyer to continue running these fabulous venues.
“The entire site is being sold freehold for £2.5-million.
“The family purchased the site in the early 1970’s and had many wonderful years trading.
“The Chy Bar was leased out six years ago but the family still operates The Dead Famous.
“I’m planning to stay in hospitality with my other company that runs several successful local festivals, including The Great Estate and The Little Orchard Cider and Music festival.”
The properties are on the market with Scott Burridge Commercial.
A spokesperson said: “The premises form an extensive detached property on two-storeys fronting Beach Road.
“The original building dates from the mid-19th Century and has been subject to extensive upgrading and conversion over many years to offer this superb bar restaurant opportunity with ancillary rooms and outside trading areas which overlook Towan Beach and beyond.
“The site is currently operated as two units; the main site operated by The Longstore/Pollocks Pub Co Group.
“Previously, our client operated the entire site as The Chy Bar and Koola Club.
“Any prospective purchaser would have the opportunity to either run two sites, or reincorporate the entire site, subject to any necessary planning consent.
“The Dead Famous Bar has traded as a number of years as a quality late-night bar restaurant, open seven nights a week from 12pm to 4am on Monday to Saturday and 12pm to 8pm on Sunday.
“Both businesses have a loyal and local clientele, boosted by the many visitors to the area in the seasonal months.
“Financial information for the Dead Famous Bar, will made available toseriously interested parties following an initial viewing.”
