Every year families from across the UK are given a weeks holiday at Newquay’s Hendra Holiday park courtesy of the Hendra team and the Lions club.
This year as mayor I was invited to join the families and the Lions on the annual welcome barbecue on the second night of the trip. It was a real pleasure to be able to chat to our guests and have the opportunity to thank the Lions for the work they are doing facilitating the trip.
This weekend Mo and Jay from Zaman’s Indian Restaurant on Henver Road were shortlisted to compete in a prestigious national competition. Anyone that has tasted the amazing cuisine at Zaman’s knows how well deserved this recognition is regardless of the outcome, though we hope you bring it home to Newquay.
This week sees both governance and resources as well as full council meet to discuss matters from biodiversity and the need to protect it, Cornwall Council proposals to move a number of their car parks to ANPR and the new and exciting Climate Action Group set up in Newquay.

After a rainy start to the week it will be better for few days now, with light southerly winds.
Owing to the weather last weekend, the Men’s Gig Championships were reduced to Saturday only, which was eventually won by Falmouth, Newquay were seventh . This weekend is the annual trip to the Scillies. Two crews and supporters will travel on Friday. There will be no band on Saturday at the Rowing Club.
