A Newquay holiday park has been awarded a prestigious accolade for the fifth year in a row.
Hendra Holiday Park has been presented with the AA Five Pennant Platinum Award, which is given by the AA to camping, glamping, and holiday parks that consistently offer outstanding camping experiences and have a quality score of 95 per cent or higher.
The park was inspected by the AA Inspector in early September, and Hendra were awarded last week.
There are fewer than 50 holiday parks in the UK with the platinum award. The award recognises parks with excellent reputations, outstanding overall quality, and high levels of customer care.
This adds to Hendra's other awards, including Visit England’s five stars and gold award, for nine years in a row.
Hendra has won a collection of awards, scooping a Visit England Bronze Award, in the camping, glamping and holiday park of the year category 2023. Hendra went through to the Visit England finals after winning gold at the South West Tourism’s holiday park of the year.
Hendra Holiday Park is one of the largest independently owned holiday parks in the UK, being owned by the May and Hyatt family for 52 years.
The holiday park has one of the largest indoor fun-pools in the Southwest, with three flumes, including a 265foot super flume. The park also has an outdoor pool, open in the summer months, indoor and outdoor play, restaurants and eateries, on park activities and children’s and adult entertainment daily.
This year, Hendra has welcomed many new facilities on the park, including the nine-hole Adventure Golf Course, Palm Beach, which is Hendra and beach themed, Always Sundae, an ice cream shop, and Ninja Assault Course.
Hendra Holiday Park also has had new Meadow Lodges, a lodge-style caravan in an exclusive area, a top of the range Watergate home, and Chestnut House, a l four -bedroom house on the edge of Hendra, combining privacy and access to five star facilities.
Jon Hyatt, the managing director, said: “It is always an honour to win an award and have the hard work of the Hendra Team officially recognised and acknowledged.
“The AA Five Star Platinum Award is a huge accolade for Hendra, especially since less than 50 Parks in the UK achieve this accreditation. It is a true testament to Hendra Holiday Park and the whole Team’s commitment to making Hendra a place which our guests love.”
Hendra is closing for the season on November 4 and is looking forward to making further developments and improvements for the 2025 season, which commences on March 31, in which Hendra will turn 53 years old.
