A PRESTIGIOUS Newquay choir is bringing the celebration of its 50 years of song and smiles to a spectacular climax.
Newquay Male Voice Choir is staging a Grand Gala Charity Concert at St Michael’s Church on Friday, November 22 at 7pm.
The choir will sing a programme spanning the range of their repertoire as it has developed over the years and they will be joined by a set of first-class guests, Canoryon Lowen, Anna Burford-Magor and Alastair Taylor.Guest accompanist will be Clive Ellison.
Admission is free but there will be a retiring collection in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. During the evening a presentation of funds will be made to the charity, representing the amount raised via fund-raising through the year.Ahead of the event this sum has already reached £6,000.
The choir is particularly keen to catch up with former members and associates and looks forward to seeing anyone with such a connection at the event.
Jim Christophers, the co-chairman of Newquay Male Voice Choir, said: “The choir has already had a celebratory dinner, been away together for a weekend tour in South Wales, produced a souvenir booklet and commissioned a piece of music, Music on the Water, which will be performed during the evening. “This concert will provide the icing on the cake of what has been a memorable year.”
