A Newquay charity has a new president at the helm to help drive the organisation forward.

Newquay Lions' outgoing president David Everson handed over the presidential chain of office to Barbara May at a special lunch held at the Kilbirnie Hotel. She then passed on the vice president’s ribbon to Andy Hannan.

Lion May said: “I’m looking forward to the coming year and have made a personal commitment to focus on making it a success.

“I have been president before, but it was during lockdown so did not get the chance to make much of an impact other than assisting at the vaccination centres and connecting with our members through the dreaded zoom.

“Our members give their time to raise money and support those in need in our community. Due to the confidential nature of some of our donations we cannot always publicise what we are doing, but you can always look at our Facebook page, Newquay Lions Club, to see what we are up to.”

Lion Hannan said: “There was a good turnout for the chain of office handover with 27 Newquay Lions and friends in attendance.

“It is great she now has the opportunity to be president again during normal time.”
