A new station commander has taken over control of RAF St Mawgan.

Wing Commander Helen Simpson has been appointed the new RAF St Mawgan Station Commander following  Wing Commander Marshall Kinnear leaving for pastures new.

Both Wg Cdrs were able to officially hand over appointment whilst flying with Bristol University Air Sqn, gaining a “fantastic” view of the station and the Cornish coastline.

A spokesperson for RAF St Mawgan said: “RAF St Mawgan and Cornwall bid farewell and thank you to Wing Commander Marshall Kinnear, and the warmest of welcomes the new RAF St Mawgan Station Commander, Wing Commander Helen Simpson.”

Wing Commander Simpson said: "As I take Command of RAF St Mawgan and reflect on the busy time the Station has had over the last few years, supporting National and International events such as G7 and Armed Forces Day National Event 23.

“I am excited to be part of a thriving team and looking forward to the growing and vital role the Station is playing for Defence and National Security as well as within the wider community.”
