THE new mayor of St Austell will be elected at the annual meeting of the town council today (Wednesday, May 15).

This year Cllr Julian Young is due to be the mayor with Cllr Colin Hamilton as the deputy.

Retiring mayor Cllr Crystal Pearce said recently at the annual parish meeting: “I would like to thank Cllr Julian Young for being such an able deputy mayor this year and I wish him and Cllr Colin Hamilton all the very best for their mayoral year which they will begin in May.”

The meeting will be held at 6pm in the Registrar’s Office on Carlyon Road.
