The new Dean of Truro Cathedral and Rector of St Mary’s Parish, Simon Robinson, was installed by the Bishop of St Germans last week.
Dean Simon came to Truro Cathedral as Interim Dean in October 2022. His Majesty The King approved his nomination as Dean in August last year.
The Right Rev Hugh Nelson, Bishop of St Germans, presided over his installation during Evensong in a packed cathedral before family, friends, community members, faith leaders and civic dignitaries from all over the UK.
The service, sung by Truro Cathedral Choir, was live-streamed and is available on the Truro Cathedral YouTube channel. There was a celebratory reception afterwards for all attendees.
Vice Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall James Williams, in attendance said: “We are all delighted to have someone of Simon’s calibre to lead the worship and the life of Truro Cathedral.”
Rt Rev Hugh Nelson said: “Simon has brought so much to the life and work of the cathedral since he arrived with us, and it was wonderful to welcome him fully as the Dean of Truro.
“He is a man of deep faith and inspiring leadership, and I am delighted to be serving the church and people of Cornwall alongside him.”
Canon Simon said: “Working at Cornwall’s great cathedral here in Truro over the past year has been such a privilege.
“I have so loved being in Cornwall and knowing that I am now staying here, fills me with joy.
“I pray and hope that together we can secure the next part of the journey for the cathedral and for the whole Cornish community.”
