Truro Cathedral’s Petertide Ordinations took place on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday evening, Olly Myles was ordained as Deacon to the Padstow team, while Grace Kanungha from the Bodmin team was ordained as a stipendiary minister.
During the service, the prospective deacons laid on the ground to demonstrate a total surrender to God, and the Bishop washed their feet as Jesus washed those of his disciples at the Last Supper. As they rose, each was vested with a stole worn over the left shoulder, distinctive to the office of deacon.
On Saturday morning, Dr Andy Boorne was ordained as priest to Kea, alongside Steve Guffick for Looe and David Smith for St Columb Major as stipendiary clergy.
All were ordained by Bishop Hugh Nelson, Acting Bishop of Truro.
Petertide refers to the Sunday nearest to St Peter's Day (June 29). It is one of two traditional periods for the ordination of new priests, the other being Michaelmas in September.
