A collective of female poets in who share a passion for words and the sea recently published an exciting new surf poetry anthology.

Mordardh (Cornish for ‘breaking wave’) contains the poems of Ella Walsworth-Bell, Fi Read, Morag Smith, Hannah Temme, Kerry Vincent, Ulrike Duran Bravo, Kate Barden and Megan Chapman, with striking images taken specifically for the anthology by marine photographer Alice Bray.

To coincide with its release, the Mor Poets are offering special sea-themed poetry workshops and spoken word events around the county.

The next workshop takes place at the Miners and Mechanics Institute in St Agnes on Wednesday, February 21 from 2pm to 5pm. Led by Hannah Temme and Fi Read, it is suitable for both first-timers and seasoned poetry pros.

It will be followed by a spoken word event from 7pm at the same venue, to include a Q&A and book signing session. Bar available. Tickets via www.ticketsource.co.uk

The Mor Poets will be at The Poly in Falmouth on Wednesday, February 28 from 6pm. Tickets can be purchased by calling 01326 319421 or through the website www.thepoly.org

Mordardh is the Mor Poets’ second book, following the publication of their sea swimming poetry anthology Morvoren in 2022.

The poets come from all different walks of life: police officers, artists, stone wallers, DJs, retired mortgage brokers, teachers and students. Their performances are filled with captivating words, rhythmic beats, with poems that encapsulate people’s personal experiences, memories and philosophies of wave-riding, and relationships with the ocean.
