In celebration of 100 years of the legendary car maker, The MG Car Club travelled across all parts of England in a groundbreaking event which ended in Cornwall.

Having started at John O’Groats, travelling with participants from all 12 UK regions of the MG Car Club, the MG 100 John O’Groats to Land’s End ‘Cavalcade’ made its final destination at Land’s End.

Along the way, the travelling convoy visited several MG dealerships, the British Motor Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire and the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. They also stopped-off at former stomping grounds in Longbridge, Birmingham and Abingdon in Oxfordshire where MG’s were once assembled.

Travelling with this entourage was a cardboard cut-out of MG founder Cecil Kimber, complete with tracker to follow his progress.

The whole event has been a resounding success with many dealerships joining the fun, notably Hawkins MG in Hayle who opened their premises and laid on hospitality for the participants.

Hawkins put on pasties and all manner of local treats, including scones and saffron cake. At Hawkins the cavalcade was joined by a further ten cars, to make a travelling cohort to Lands End of 38 cars.

Cars were assembled outside the Land’s End Hotel where the weather did nothing to dampen spirits as entrants braved the elements to support the event completion photo at the iconic Lands End sign-post.

As the Cavalcade traversed the UK, money has been raised for Lupus UK and the Alzheimer’s Society. Donations are still being received through Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/team/mgcarclub-cavalcade.
