A MUSEUM in a Cornish port has been celebrating the successful conclusion to an improvement project.

The new entrance to Mevagissey and District Museum, the final upgrade undertaken in a series of schemes at the historic building, has been officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony, with the ribbon cut by Lord Lieutenant Edward Bolitho and Dolores Palk, widow of late chairman of the museum trust David Palk.

The museum trustees said: “This is the conclusion of a tremendously successful community-backed project which, as trustees, we have run over the past two years, backed both by a local and public crowdfunding campaign, parish council grants and significant funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, administered and distributed by Cornwall Council. A big thank you to everyone involved.”
