MEMBERS of the community solemnly gathered in Mevagissey on Remembrance Sunday to remember the fallen from the two world wars and other conflicts.
Military veterans wearing their medals, young cadets and representatives of various organisations, including those for youngsters, were among those marking the two-minute silence at the war memorial in the port.
During the remembrance ceremony, Cornwall councillor James Mustoe read out the names of the fallen from the village, poppy wreaths and other tributes were laid, and standards were carried.
Cllr Mustoe said after the ceremony: “It was an honour as ever to take part as a civic dignitary in my 11th remembrance service as Cornwall councillor for Mevagissey.
“Reading the list of the fallen really brings home the sacrifices made by the men and families of our parish in the two world wars, to conflicts as recently as Afghanistan, so that we can live in freedom today.”
