MARCO Pierre White’s ex-apprentice has been hailed as the 'king of sarnies’ after opening his own restaurant in Newquay.
Chef Ben Harrison has unveiled Stax in Beach Parade, which combines his two passions: food and vinyl music.
The 30-year-old, from Chester, was inspired to launch his own place after growing tired of seeing local restaurants “only geared around tourism, with no passion to be seen”.
After working under Marco Pierre White, Ben went on to cook all over Europe as a private chef.
His sandwiches draw inspiration from his culinary journeys, road trips and adventures around the world.
According to Ben, the initial concept involved buying an old truck and turning it into the ’Sanger Banger’ by selling sandwiches by the beach but after purchasing Gustos, Stax became a permanent fixture.
He added: “I'm sick of seeing people eating boring old sandwiches. Trying Stax’s can change your life. It’s more than just a dining spot.
”We like to foster memorable experiences with Sunday socials featuring chill vinyl adding to the laid-back atmosphere.
“It’s about creating culture, the vibe, the music, the food, if coming to Stax doesn't make you smile then there is something wrong with you.”
