A MAN was airlifted to hospital from Fistral Beach on Monday afternoon (March 31).

Cornwall Air Ambulance landed at North Fistral and took the patient to the Royal Cornwall Hospital shortly before 1am.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, off-duty RNLI lifeguards and the ambulance service also attended the incident.

A Newquay Coastguard spokesperson said: “Thank you to the off-duty RNLI lifeguards who provided invaluable assistance prior to the ambulance service arrival.

“Thanks also to the staff at Fistral Beach Complex for all their help.

“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”

A spokesperson for Cornwall Air Ambulance said: “We were tasked to an incident at Fistral Beach.

“We conveyed one patient to the Royal Cornwall Hospital for onward care.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 12:46hrs on Monday, March 31 to an incident in Newquay.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an air ambulance to the scene.

“We conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Royal Cornwall Hospital.”
