EMERGENCY services were scrambled following reports a person was missing in the Mawgan Porth area on Saturday night.

Devon & Cornwall Police, Newquay and Padstow Coastguard Search and Rescue Teams, a police helicopter and a senior Coastguard officer were tasked to assist in the search at 8.45pm.

The person was eventually found safe and well after a comprehensive search from Mawgan Porth to Porthcothan.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team said: “If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard. Stay safe.”
