CONCERNS have been raised by locals after a mysterious ‘liquid’ was reported on Porth Beach, Newquay, on Monday.
The resident, who reported the issue to the Environment Agency, told us: “On March 11, at 9.24am pollution being discharged into the stream at Porth Beach. Reported to MP Noah Law and Environment Agency.
“Open water where children play and people were walking their dogs. Four of us witnessed this liquid appearing twice during the 30 minutes we sat by the wall.”
They added: “In light of so many ill dogs earlier in the year this is concerning don’t you think?”
In response the Environment Agency confirmed a “minor, intermittent, unknown pollution discharge” had been noted.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “We are not aware of an ongoing pollution incident at Porth Beach, Newquay, today. A minor, intermittent, unknown pollution discharge was noted by a member of the public yesterday and reported to us this morning but this is believed to have now passed.
