St Austell Lions Club would like to thank the many volunteers and generous members of the public who enabled the annual Santa Sleigh collection to raise more than £3,000 for local good causes.  

Next on the club’s calendar is the collection for Ukraine, which will take place on Saturday, January 20, from 10am for one hour in St Mary’s Church car park, St Blazey Gate.  

Items particularly requested include warm children’s clothing, nappies, ladies’ sanitary products, sleeping bags, small tents and paracetamol.  

The last collection was very successful, resulting in three car loads of public donations and medical supplies from Wheal Northey Surgery. These were taken to Callington for onward transport to Ukraine.  

There is no convoy in January, so this month’s collection will be delivered to Callington in time for the February run.
