NEWQUAY lifeboat volunteers launched after a catamaran got into difficulty in Newquay Bay.

The charity's Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat attended the incident one nautical mile north of Newquay Harbour on Friday, August 23 at about 7pm.

The lifeboat escorted the vessel safely into Newquay Harbour.

A Newquay RNLI Lifeboats spokesperson said: “Due to the style of the catamaran a tow line was unable to be rigged therefore the crew of the Atlantic stayed alongside the craft until they reached safety at Newquay Harbour.

“Crew on board the catamaran were then able to paddle the vessel to the shore, where RNLI volunteer shore crew were able to assist in the recovery.”
