THE St Piran celebrations in the centre of St Austell attracted the largest attendance yet.

The organisers, led by town councillor Julie Fox, have thanked all those involved in the festivities in the town on Saturday.

St Austell Town Council and Cornwall councillor Matt Luke gave financial support towards the event which featured a procession, live music, face painting, a children’s ride, various stalls and other activities.

Cornwall councillor Michael Bunney organised and led the procession around the town centre in the sunshine, and speeches were given by St Austell and Newquay MP Noah Law, mayor Julian Young and deputy mayor Colin Hamilton.

Among those providing the music were Bagas Crowd, Kescana, the Cunning Old Celts, the Drecklys, the Garker Street Band and Richard Trethewey.
