HUNDREDS of people went along to a Healthier Together festival held at Poltair Park in St Austell.

The family-friendly event was staged as part of a new NHS partnership health and wellbeing campaign in the county.

People were invited to go along and find out what they could do to improve their health in a fun and interactive way.

An NHS spokesperson said: “The event went really well and more than 500 people attended. They enjoyed a range of activities, wellbeing support and advice from organisations including Healthy Cornwall, the Sensory Trust, the Cornwall Bicycle Project, the Eden Project, St Austell Healthcare's social prescribing team, the community health and wellbeing team, and Age UK.

“Fifty-eight people had health checks from the NHS and more than 40 had oral health checks from Smile Together CIC.

“CHAOS Radio, a local skiffle duo and a Makaton signing choir took part and there was free face decorating from Cornwall Neighbourhoods For Change (CN4C).

“The local fire station crew attended, and we were pleased to welcome mayor Julian Young and MP Noah Law.”

Further festivals are being held in Wadebridge on Sunday, September 1, at Hayle and Camborne on Saturday, September 14, and at Newquay on Saturday, September 21.
