Diane Thain judged the contest, which saw Janet Thomas awarded first place, Janet Kearton second, John Bennetts third and Amie Bradshaw in fourth.

People present at the judging ceremony had the opportunity to make a donation for a piece of pie, which raised £80 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Phil Trebilcock from the rowing club said: “We’ve had another fantastic year for our much-loved egg and bacon pie competition.

“A huge thank you to everyone who took part, once again.

“The standard of entries was absolutely top-notch.

“Special thanks to Diane Thain for taking on the difficult but delicious job of judging.

“With so many incredible pies to choose from, it wasn’t an easy task.

“Well done to all our bakers, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year! Who’s already planning their winning recipe?”
