In Search of Tywardreath, working in partnership with a Tudor life re-enactment group called Commotion Times, are to host a three-day event at New House Farm in Tywardreath on May 27, 28 and 29, showcasing what life would have been like living in the village hundreds of years ago.
Visitors to the event will be able to learn about archery and the skills involved in longbows, how to make butter and cheese, how to bake bread – and even how to look for metals in water.
ISOT will also run a craft fair and are looking for crafts people to join in with skills that would have been around in those times, such as with herbs, honey and weaving.
Organisers are on the lookout for butchers, bakers and candlestick makers.
There are plans for a pig roast on the Sunday as well as refreshments.
New House Farm is the supposed site of the Priory in Tywardreath from the 1100s to the 1500s, when it was demolished.
Part of ISOT’s mission is to uncover the foundations and prove exactly where the priory buildings were, as well as promoting the history of the area. A previous event (pictured) proved to be a big success.
