MEMBERS of the St Austell Old Cornwall Society are due to hear about boat building in Mevagissey.

The guest speaker at the group’s next meeting will be Gary Mitchell who will talk about his family of boat builders and the history of the fishing port.

The meeting will be held on Monday, March 10, at 7.30pm in the White River Community Church on Trinity Street.

At the February meeting of the society, Frank Argall gave an illustrated talk about the history of his family’s photographic business.

A spokesperson said: “Everyone who has any interest in the history, heritage and customs of Cornwall is welcome to attend. Every month we have a guest speaker, and in June, July and August we have outings to interesting places in Cornwall.”
