AN historic pub in the centre of St Austell is hoping to give itself an updated look.

The Queens Head Inn on North Street and Market Street is applying for advertisement and listed building consent for new signage.

Mark Evans Planning, on behalf of the pub, has told Cornwall Council planning department that the “current signage and advertisements are tired and in need of maintenance and refreshment”.

The three-storey pub, which has been Grade II listed since 1974, sits within a conservation area.

The pub wants new signage to its external elevations and a new hanging sign, plus some new lights.
