GREEN-FINGERED volunteers have given the entrance to St Columb Minor a makeover.
The group have undertaken a new planting scheme at the corner of Church Street following sponsorship from Beacon Vets.
The scheme has been possible after Cornwall Highways cut down hedges to improve visibility of a road sign.
Lesley Friel from the group said: “The hard-working group of volunteers have now completed a makeover of the area with new planting generously funded by Beacon Vets.
“The group is delighted with this second year’s sponsorship which has enabled them to carry out the improvements. Last year Beacon Vets funded the purchase of a heavy-duty strimmer and safety gear as well as spring bulbs for the recreation ground.
“Many passers-by and residents have commented appreciatively on the new planting and the way it has enhanced the entrance to the village.
“Huge thanks to Beacon Vets for their continued support.”
If anybody would like to help the group who also maintain the bed at the Co-op, the planting and wildflower bed in the recreation ground and the beds at Porth Promenade please contact Lesley Friel on 07837 743016.
