AN auction that was due to take place in West Cornwall raising vital funds to fight stomach cancer has been postponed.

Jenny Gill, who was diagnosed with Signet Cell Cancer in March 2024, pledged to raise ten thousand pounds for stomach cancer awareness and support with an auction at Marazion Community Centre on April 26.

However, the fundraising event has been postponed after Jenny was admitted to St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle.

Rachel Yates, who is part of the auction’s organising team, said: “Our dear friend Jenny is currently in St Julia’s hospice surrounded by her family. In light of this, the family has decided to postpone the event so they can spend this precious time together.

“We know that Jenny’s wishes would be for this magnificent fun event to happen and make as much money as possible. We understand that many people have purchased tickets for the event. We want to ensure them they have the option that best suits them during this time.

“They may choose to either receive a full refund for their ticket or keep it for the rescheduled date, which we will announce as soon as possible. We will be in touch then to raise awareness and create an evening to remember.

“Thank you for your understanding and support. Our thoughts are with Jenny and her family during this challenging time, and we appreciate your compassion as we navigate these changes together.”

Since her diagnosis last year, 62-year-old mother Jenny has been determined to leave a legacy to ensure her rare and aggressive cancer is better understood and detected. It’s a stomach cancer that is not easily detected, as early symptoms can be the same as stomach ulcers and other digestive problems.
