A former tin mine engine house at St Day is going under the auctioneer’s hammer with a freehold guide price of £6,000 plus.

The stone building, now in a poor state of repair, is next to the well-established United Downs Industrial Park.

It is among 178 lots in the latest sale by Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.

Auctioneer David Henwood said: “Former engine houses of this kind are popular with auction buyers.

“We successfully auctioned a former engine house used as offices at Wheal Kitty Business Park near St Agnes in July.

“It sold for £149,100, nearly three times its guide, and attracted more than 100 bids which demonstrates the level of interest and potential in these type of historic structures.”

Meanwhile, a three-bedroom house in St Day has a freehold guide of £95,000 plus.

The end-terrace has a private drive, detached garage and gardens. It is being auctioned jointly with Bill Bannister Estate Agents of Redruth.

Bidding for the current auction, the sixth of the year, goes live on Monday, September 16 and ends on Wednesday, September 18.
