Flambards Theme Park is celebrating the success of its recent Foodbank Weekend, held on October 5 and 6, which saw generous visitors donating over 218kg of food and £340 in cash to support Helston & The Lizard Foodbank.
The event, which offered reduced ticket prices in exchange for food donations, drew widespread community participation and highlighted the local commitment to helping those in need during challenging times.
In partnership with Helston & The Lizard Foodbank, Flambards invited guests to enjoy a day at the theme park for just £9.95, provided they brought a food donation worth around £3.
The initiative aimed to raise vital supplies to combat food poverty in the region, with suggested donations including essentials like powdered milk, rice pudding, tinned ham, and custard.
“We are absolutely delighted by the generosity of our visitors,” said Flambards Theme Park’s Beth Webb.
“The community came together to help us make a real difference, and the donations we received will go a long way in supporting local families through difficult times,” she added.
Helston & The Lizard Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust network, will distribute the donated food to individuals and families facing food insecurity in the local area. The additional £340 in cash contributions will further support their efforts to provide emergency food and essential services.
“We are incredibly grateful to Flambards and everyone who contributed during the weekend,” said a representative from Helston & The Lizard Foodbank.
“The food and funds raised will have an immediate and meaningful impact on those in need in our community.”
The event was also supported by season pass holders, who, while receiving free entry, were encouraged to contribute to the cause. For those who couldn’t attend, the foodbank operates throughout the week, providing a lifeline for those in crisis.
