First Kernow has been given the contract to operate Truro Park & Ride (P&R) for another three years, having run the service for Cornwall Council for the last nine years and made a successful bid for the tender.
Buses will depart every ten minutes at peak times to key locations including the city centre and Treliske hospital from the P&R sites at Langarth Park to the west and Tregurra Park to the east. Ticket prices will remain the same, costing as little as £1.64 a day.
Truro’s P&R service carries over 850,000 passengers per year, providing greener travel into the city and helping to ease congestion in the centre. The existing diesel fleet is set to be updated in 2025, with seven electric vehicles and supporting charging infrastructure delivered thanks to Zebra 2 funding.
First Kernow has also made plans to support local projects including Tregurra Fields, engage with schools and colleges, and provide 15 Real Living Wage opportunities for local drivers and apprenticeship opportunities.
First Kernow managing director Simon Goff said: “We’re proud to continue our longstanding partnership with Cornwall Council to deliver the P&R service. It’s a brilliant solution for passengers, allowing people to enjoy Truro in a stress-free way.”
