FIREFIGHTERS are battling a large barn fire at a farm in St Newlyn East.
Two appliances from Newquay and St Dennis were immediately mobilised along with a wholetime officer for support at the barn, which is near the turning to Mitchell, at about 7.20am.
Forty seven firefighters are at the scene using hosereels jets to extinguish the blaze.
A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “This incident is now a make pumps six incident, with support from three wholetime officers, two water carriers, an incident command unit and an operational support vehicle.

“A total of 47 firefighters from Newquay, St Dennis, Perranporth, Wadebridge, Truro, Launceston, St Austell and Tolvaddon are on scene.
“Crew on scene report a large barn on fire. They are using hosereel jets to extinguish the fire.
“Some smoke is entering the A30, close to Carland Cross interchange, so please proceed with caution through this area.
“Devon and Cornwall Police and National Highways have been informed. “A 50 metre cordon is in place and a road in the vicinity of the farm has been closed at this time.”
