FIRE crews tackled a large vehicle blaze on the A30 at Mitchell on Wednesday morning (June 26).

St Dennis and Perranporth crews attended the incident, which involved a lorry fuel tank on fire along the eastbound carriageway at 4.50am.

Firefighters discovered that the DPF filter had excess fuel in it which was leaking on to the hot exhaust pipe that was igniting.

Crews used a hose reel and a dry powder extinguisher to tackle the fire and cool the engine bay to prevent the fire spreading to the cab.

One lane was closed whilst the fire crews dealt with the incident.
